Review site?

Hi.

I'm wanting to create a rewiev website, with focus on diffrent game hosting companys. But I'm not sure what kind of software I will need.

It should function like this:

Companys have the option to signup, when they do, they will need to write a short description about themself, and the title of their company. When they have written this, they should automaticly be added to a list, of all registered companys.

Then customers of the hosts, should be able to go to the companys site, and write a rewiev. They should be able to give the company starts, in different categories, and write a short rewiev...Do anybody know, if this is able in a CMS or through raw code?

Thanks *Sorry for my bad english.

Hi Adam,

you can do this by using rails application or php, which can happen through raw coding.

i hope I answered the question

good luck Afrah

You could use a CMS such as MODx to build this or if you wanted more control over everything then start coding away in either PHP or Ruby on Rails. I would use a MYSQL database behind everything (or go further and take a look at Percona).

Hope this helps!

Thanks for both of you're answers. I don't think I have enough knowledge about PHP or RoR to create it myself - so I will look into the CMS'es you suggested Oliver.

Thanks!

Oliver: Is this something you're able to help with? I haven't really used MODx before.

Its only something I have played around with I don't have extensive knowledge on using it. Best idea would be study some basic HTML, CSS and PHP so you can better understand what the CMS can/can't do for you, again some exposure to MYSQL would be a benefit.

The MODx website has a great community and now-a-days has extensive documentation and a whole load of code snippits that you can just drop it.

If MODx is a bit 'scary' looking than there are alternatives such as Drupal, Joomla or even WordPress
