Courses Plus Student 538 Pointsribbit challenge question: Set button variable to button in the layout with ID deleteButton.
my solution was:
mDeleteButton = (Button)findViewById(R.id.deleteButton);
in the onCreateView method under PhotoFragment.java. The hint given is for fragments, we must use the rootView to call the findViewById method...which gives me the same error hint when adding rootView variable to the find.... method. I'm a little lost and would appreciate some direction.
import android.app.Fragment;
import android.os.Bundle;
import android.view.LayoutInflater;
import android.view.View;
import android.view.ViewGroup;
import android.widget.Button;
public class PhotoFragment extends Fragment {
public Button mDeleteButton;
@Override
public void onCreate(Bundle savedInstanceState) {
super.onCreate(savedInstanceState);
}
@Override
public View onCreateView(LayoutInflater inflater, ViewGroup container, Bundle savedInstanceState) {
View rootView = inflater.inflate(R.layout.fragment_photo, container, false);
mDeleteButton = (Button)rootView.findViewById(R.id.deleteButton);
return rootView;
}
}
import android.app.ActionBar;
import android.app.Activity;
import android.app.FragmentTransaction;
import android.os.Bundle;
import android.util.Log;
public class MainActivity extends Activity implements ActionBar.TabListener {
public static final String TAG = MainActivity.class.getSimpleName();
@Override
public void onCreate(Bundle savedInstanceState) {
super.onCreate(savedInstanceState);
setContentView(R.layout.activity_main);
}
@Override
public void onTabSelected(ActionBar.Tab tab, FragmentTransaction fragmentTransaction) {
}
@Override
public void onTabUnselected(ActionBar.Tab tab, FragmentTransaction fragmentTransaction) {
}
@Override
public void onTabReselected(ActionBar.Tab tab, FragmentTransaction fragmentTransaction) {
}
}

Courses Plus Student 7,254 PointsHi Lee,
I was able to complete the first part of the challenge with what you have there. Was your question about the second part?

Courses Plus Student 538 PointsFor whatever reason it was giving me an error for the first part. I also couldn't complete any quizzes over the weekend. ..thru hung when i clicked submit. May have been server maintenance? Thank you for your response. I will attempt again shortly.
