I just started the Ruby track here on Treehouse and I'm interested to see if anyone would like to pair up and learn together? Basically to hold each other accountable in keeping on with the lessons here on Treehouse, pick each other's brains about what we're learning, pair-code on Git Hub, etc.
Learning together I believe is a lot more effective than going about this on your own and I'm pretty determined to do my best in this and other courses here on Treehouse.
I've found a few websites out there that offer something like this, but I'd really like to pair up with someone right here on Treehosue.
Here's what I'm picturing:
- Daily contact (via text/Google Hangout/Skype or whatever) to see each other's progress, questions, and/or concerns. We can exchange tips we learn on the way and get feedback on ideas we bounce off of each other.
- Collaborate on a Git Hub project to create something together. This can be something as simple as the little projects found in our lessons. Main thing is that we're looking at each other's code, giving feedback, and working together to create an app.
- Encourage each other to work towards our goal. To what end are your learning to Program? Looking for a job? Great, let me be a part of that journey with you and we can work together on that goal.
- Committed to stay with it. I'm in it for the long haul. If you're just testing the waters, we would probably just be wasting each other's time. I don't know enough to give you a good idea if this is for you. But if you're at the start of a long journey to become a great programmer, then we would probably make a good fit because that's where I'm at as well.
If you're interested, message me on Google Hangouts at acevedo.oliver at gmail dot com or just reply to this post. Hope we can get something going!

21,598 PointsAre You focusing only on Ruby or You plan to hang out on Rails?
Your idea is interesting. Im planning to become RoR developer and need to do it ASAP so i can devote tons of time towards programming, but im still grasping the programming and Ruby. I just want to understand as much of it as i can before i jump into Rails. So far i understand basics of programing, more advanced topics in Ruby (metaprogramming etc.) and still learning more.
The problem is i have no incentive or "drive" to actually start and write my own application because im scared of beign overwhelmed by it and failing. Hell i do not even have an idea how to aproach that. But maybe if i had a partner to work with it would be better.

4,338 PointsYea, I'm planning on learning Rails as soon as I can as well. I think it's more important that you make an application, no matter how simple it is, than making sure you make something great. We can start by working on some simple apps, just so we can get use to the process. Then as we learn more, we can start making more complex things which by that time I'm sure it won't overwhelm us.
Looks like you're far ahead of me on the Ruby track but let's try and get a few things going and see how it goes. Let's set up a Repo on Git Hub so we can work together. If you don't have a personal profile page yet, I think that would be a great start.
