848 PointsRunning Unreal Engine 4
Hello everyone,
I've learnt Unreal Engine 4, but my computer doesn't seem to be able to run it. This is a thin ultrabook from Lenovo and it doesn't have options for upgrading. The only option I've thought of so far is getting a new computer which meets Epic's requirements for UE4.
I've attached my specs. I'd really embrace any advice given as it will still help me a lot.
Regards,
Arman
My specs:
3.82GB of RAM usable Intel HD 4000 Graphics Card Intel Core i5 1.80 GHz
Unreal's Specs:
Quad-core Intel or AMD, 2.5 GHz or faster 8 GB RAM NVIDIA GeForce 470 GTX or AMD Radeon 6870 HD series or higher

4,180 PointsUnreal 4 isn't going to run well or at all in most cases on a laptop unless you have a very high end gaming laptop. A good desktop pc for Unreal development will run you around $1100, but will be worth the investment if this is something you really want to do. UE4 is pretty amazing, and a huge improvement over UDK. (UE3) The new blueprint system is a great way to create games without having to write code, (you still need to know how control flow works, blueprint is a node based visual C++ for all intents and purposes) and the material editor is an artist's dream. The landscape system works better than it ever has, and foliage painting finally works without breaking lightmaps and dropping your FPS to oblivion.
