Safari Sound Problem

Hey Guys. Not sure if anyone else is experiencing this, but I cannot seem to hear audio from embedded videos on your site. I am on Safari 6.0.2 (On OS X Mountain Lion). Both flash and HTML5 videos work fine on other sites. If I view your site with Chrome the audio works fine. Not a big deal, but just something to look into if you get a chance.

Thanks

Thanks for posting! We're sorry to hear about the troubles you're experiencing. Our developers have looked into this and it appears to be an issue with Safari thinking it has support for WebM videos, which, natively it does not.

The problem is a Quicktime components application of some sort that you have installed on your Mac. A commonly downloaded one amongst the Mac community is Perian which allows Safari to support WebM videos. This seems to be what is causing the trouble. To Remove Perian please go to your System Preferences, click "Perian" and then click "Remove Perian". - Screenshot: http://via.sg/ljn6

You don't have to remove the actual prefPane. Once you've clicked "Remove Perian" in the prefPane, you can always just install it again later if you need it. Though, we recommend abandoning Perian altogether as this is now officially "abandonware".

If you do not have Perian installed you may have installed another Quicktime components application that supports WebM and you'll need to find that and isolate it. Please let us know if you have any other questions or concerns!

Thank you for being a member! :)

Thanks Elizabeth! Worked like a charm! I've always loved Perian and am disappointed to see it go, but for others with this issue I can recommend MPlayerX as a media player replacement that works a lot like QuickTime.

No problem, Cory! Thank you so much for your suggestions. I'll be sure to get the word out and share that with other members too! Thank you :)

When it comes down to it, you don't have to remove Perian. Our videos work well on other browsers if you're open to using something other than Safari. At that point though it's a matter of browser preference :)

Have a great weekend if we don't chat again sooner!

I had the same problem and removing perian fixed the issue.
