Saving and Package Explorer Questions

Hello Treehouse,

I downloaded the Eclipse package and have the folder on my desktop, but I am confused as to which file to open to access the Crystal Ball. I am using MainActivity.java, however, underneath my "Package Explorer" tab, there is no access to categories such as Crystal Ball Folder, src, libs etc. (it is just blank). Which file do I open (inside of either the CrystalBall or android_dev_environment_mac folders) to properly display the entire "Package Explorer"?

Thank you very much for your time,

Sam

Also, using just the MainActivity.java, I cannot properly run/test the problem. Can anybody explain how to properly save a project in Eclipse, and how to access it later? I swear I have tried to run everything in the folder with no success.

Did you create a new android project called CrystalBall? Or did you download the CrystalBall.zip file from treehouse and using that?

Well to import a project you can follow this

  • Open eclipse
  • From the menu on top go to File -> Import
  • Expand General and click on Existing Project Into Workspace
  • In the select the root directory browse to the folder called CrystallBall in your desktop and click Open
  • You will see under Projects that your project is listed.
  • Click finish and all your files will be there.

Hope that helps

Invalid project description. Oh my bad. Instead of General expand Android and click on Existing Android code into the workspace and then browse the folder CrystalBall.

I am pretty sure I created a new android project called CrystalBall.

In that case you should see the folders src, res, etc. Try creating the a new project and see if that helps

Alright. When I do that, I get the response: "Invalid project description." When I select details, I receive an error saying my CrystalBall overlaps the same CrystalBall.

I figured it out. When opening Eclipse, I selected a desktop workspace, instead of a CrystalBall workspace. Is this going to present a future problem though in terms of saved location?

Thank you VERY much for your help.

Oh! great. You are already getting good at this :) . Well when working in eclipse it will always refer to the files in the desktop since that is the location you chose. So unless you don't rename, move or delete it, it should be just fine. Though you can always move the folder to some other location of your choice and simply use import command again.

Thank you so much for all of the help! I truly appreciate it. Please let me know if I can ever help you with any questions, although it appears that you are much further down the line than myself.

I am glad I could help. I'll surely give you a shout when needed. I've just dived into the learning process, still a long way to go. Wish you luck on this quest too. See you around!
