Screen densities and images dimensions

Hi,

I'm now at the "Build an Interactive Story App" course. We've used pre-made drawables. I want to understand how Treehouse designers made those drawables.

I've searched online and found this web page http://petrnohejl.github.io/Android-Cheatsheet-For-Graphic-Designers/

I want to know how to choose the dimension of drawables; for example, I have an image that I want to insert in my app, what size (pixel) it should be to be inserted inside XXHdpi?
