Select Menus

Hey all, not sure what I'm doing wrong here.

"Add a label to the select element with text "Shirt Color:"

<select id="color" name="shirt_color"> <optgroup label="shirt color"> <option value="red">Red</option> <option value="yellow">Yellow</option> <option value="purple">Purple</option> <option value="blue">Blue</option> <option value="green">Green</option> <option value="orange">Orange</option> </optgroup> </select>

//I'm being asked to add a label attribute, and text "shirt color:" to the select element. I took that as being asked to wrap the option elements within an <optgroup> element like the previous lesson taught us. But when I do so, the code from the previous task (adding the option elements) no longer run.

Hi Matthew, in this challenge a label with a for attribute is the correct answer:

    <form action="index.html" method="post">
      <h1>Shirt Order Form</h1>
       <label for="color">Shirt Color:</label>
      <select id="color" name="shirt_color">
      <option value="red">Red</option>
      <option value="yellow">Yellow</option>
      <option value="purple">Purple</option>
      <option value="blue">Blue</option>
      <option value="green">Green</option>
      <option value="orange">Orange</option>
    </select>
    </form>

Hi Matthew,

You've got the label in the right place (above the select menu), but a label should look like this:

      <label for="color">Shirt Color</label>

Hope that helps,

Ede
