Crystal,

I definitely understand wanting to build something with the skills you have learned as soon as possible. Treehouse teaches from the ground up though. The courses you have finished are just the start of what you need to know to make the type of site to which you were referring. I recommend that you at least finish building a responsive website and building a dynamic website and then start the PHP track where Randy Hoyt teaches how to build a small e-commerce site set-up through paypal.

To accomplish what you have mentioned, you will need a strong grasp on html and css as well as learning about form submission and url redirection. If it will be a large store with many items, you will also want to look into Database Foundations and Using PHP with mySQL.

If you are in a hurry to get a store up, you can also use shopify.com (which will at least let you style the design of the page and all of the backend programming is taken care of for you) for the time being while you are learning. Hope this points you in the right direction. Web design and development is not something that can be mastered after a short period of time but as long as you have the desire to keep learning, it will get easier!

Spot on advice in my opinion. Ecommerce is a long way off when you're just starting out and requires knowledge of several languages to be able to execute.

To add, WordPress is a valid option where now you've got a grasp on CSS, you can build a child theme and style a theme and ecommerce plugin till your heart's content.

You'll need to cover the "How to build a Child Theme" part of the WordPress course but it's an afternoon's learning tops and then you'll be set to go.

I concur.I will say that making a working contact form is much easier than setting up an e-commerce store.

You can make a working contact form with some PHP knowledge. I used code as a starting point for mine.
