8,378 PointsThe is no need to buy an editor. I mean if you have the money you should do it.You can get good editor for free. I use atom,brackets.io, and sublime text editor. I suggest you use brackets.io and atom. Just google them.

If you're just beginning and don't want to spend the money, there are many free text editors out there. Personally, I use sublime2 on a Mac. I can't remember what it cost, but can do pretty much any language and (in my opinion) is pretty user friendly. Nick (from Treehouse) uses Atom. There are just so many out there, but a simple, text editor is all you need for just HTML.

8,131 PointsIf you are comfortable with your coding, you can use Notepad on your PC to write html and css. You can also create a webserver on your thumb drive using XAMPP lite. This way you can see how the pages work. Hope this helps.
