3,185 PointsShould I hire a developer to make my app idea?
So I have hit a wall in the development of this original app idea I have. I have spent a month at this project and all I have to show for it is a ball on a screen that you can control by tilting. I REALLY don't want to hire a developer but that's what it is coming to. I have ran out of patience and I'm sick of frying my eyes in front of a computer screen just to get error after error. I was wondering who/what the best and cheapest and most efficient app development companies are and how I can contact them. I am also wondering if I get my app made will the developer(s) want my code to use and I am also wondering if I actually OWN the app although I didn't 100% make it myself. OR should I grind this out and finish this project on my own if that is the better choice which I really don't want to do. And, how much would it cost to make a simple app (my game would have a player tilt a ball past oncoming lines with gaps in them and as time progresses the lines start coming faster. The game's objective is to keep the ball on the screen as long as possible) with a developer, should it be with a company or freelance developers??
THANK YOU FOR ANSWERING!!!!!!

Courses Plus Student 1,173 PointsWhile I'm a designer not a developer I might be able to offer some help about hiring a developer.
PROS:
- They will know how to solve the problems you can't
- They will be quicker than you
- The code will (likely) be more performant
CONS:
- You get what you pay for. Go cheap and you'll likely get poorer work (not always the case but generally cost = experience + skill).
- You don't get the satisfaction of overcoming your challenges.
It doesn't really matter if it's a company or an individual. Generally speaking individuals will be less expensive (again this depends on skill and experience).
You own the code, they're merely providing a service unless you agree otherwise. This is where contracts come into play. Docracy has some great boilerplates to help. Always have a contract.
It's possible they would want to start over depending on their experience and the quality of the existing code. There may be performance gains etc. Difficult to tell.

10,763 Pointsthere are many websites with code and templates for apps!
the most important words I've read on the internet in referance to making apps was "don't start an app from scratch".
so if you've been working on a simple app for a months and your really stuck, maybe your working harder not smarter. look for app codes and app libraries. you can even buy the code for games and tweak the code to make it yours. I think your app is too simple to pay someone else to build it. But I would hire a freelancer to sit down by your side and guide you through making it!

3,185 PointsHey Christopher, thanks for the advice but what I did do was finish the app myself and all I have left to do is design then I'll publish it. Thanks!!!

3,185 PointsNow that I think about it, my app may be of "unprofessional grade" but I think I will finish this project myself since I've come too far to quit...and I want the satisfaction of knowing I did this myself with the help of you guys :)
THANKS!!!
