Show only selected application

I did not understand this part! Show only selected application means that it is showing the log messages in the funfacts applications right? There are no other open applications! What is the different between No Filter and Show only selected application when we have only one open application?

Even if there's only one application active (i.e. the one displayed on screen) it doesn't mean there aren't others running in the background. If you look at the top of the Android Monitor there are two drop-down menus, one to choose a device/emulator on the left, and one to choose a process (application) to the right of that. Click on the process one and you'll see there are quite a few running in the background.
