If you can make any website or any app, why work for someone else? Isnt it easy to make your own sites and apps, make money off ads, and sip lemonade on a tropical island? Is it hard for devs to be creative? or does it take 30 people to make even the simplest website? whats going on here!!?

8,770 PointsIt's not easy at all to have a website that has a lot of visitors and with enough income from adds. Websites with a lot of adds are disliked by the users. Living just from adds or mobile apps is not easy (but is possible). There are also some simple websites that are carefully designed and with the need of optimisation (that's why some need so many people working on it).

But well run web sites that make money don't run themselves. Look at how many employees work for Facebook or Google, for example. If you are not careful, your 'passive' income ends up needing more work than your 9 to 5.
