7,283 PointsSo, I started a thing...
So basically I've been working through Treehouse courses in a very 'on and off' manor, I've been finding it difficult to set aside the right amount of time after work to achieve the things that I want to a achieve. I found myself trying to learn everything all at once and it's just not working out.
I'm currently on a 12 month contract at my day job and I've set myself the target of being confident enough to apply for a full-time web design job at the end of it. In order to track my progress I've setup a little Wordpress blog where I can openly discuss what I've got done without clogging up the forums. I know I'm not the only person who's come to Treehouse with the ambition of retraining themselves but I'd thought I'd share the link with you all anyway, just incase there was people out there who enjoy reading blogs as a way of inspiring themselves to go further.
Also I believe it could be a good way to connect with more people who're thinking of doing the same thing but haven't quite been able to commit for whatever reason.
So if you want to stop by and drop it in your favourites please do, I'm looking forward to seeing what the responses are and hearing from a few of you that've done similar things and how it's all worked out for you.
Cheers

2,435 PointsIf you want to get in the web industy pretty easy, you could learn HTML/CSS, jQuery and how to make WordPress themes. That should be enough at the start, and while beeing in the web industry, you would learn a lot as well as you will study to go to the web design, the dream position you want, instead of day to day random job.

7,283 PointsThat's what I've been doing tbh, I've made good inroads into Web Design track and I already had a small amount of knowledge of HTML and CSS but it's just mastering those skills to a point where I feel comfortable moving into a full-time position. I currently work at a college as a Graphic Designer so I've taken on a lot of responsibility to update that current website.
