4,979 PointsSome advice
Hi
I'm just wondering if people could lend me some advice on starting my first real web job. I just graduated and moved out to Dubai with the girlfriend. I was a little worried I wouldn't find work as the only experience I have behind me was internship I had with my University.
Anyway I've been out here for about 2 weeks and landed a job some how. It's a front end dev position in a kinda start up of a much larger organisation. Their primary focus is on ads across mobile devices using MRAID 2.0. I've never had any experience with MRAID and was wondering if anyone here has had any and could direct me on were to look or just some general advice and tips.
Whats got me really worried though is i'm on my own really going in. I'll be the only dev, taking designs and creating them. I have no one really to communicate with. While it gives me the flexibility to really create my own workflow, I don't really know were to start either.
The job pays crazy for some one of my experience and I would of never see anything like this back in Ireland/Scotland. I was the only one to get the interview, after doing a code challenge. I just want to be completely prepared as I know its going to be rough for the first few weeks.
Any advice on anything really would be great for a newbie, walking into his first real job.

10,331 PointsMy advice to you as far as work experience goes is to wake up everyday and focus on making sure that you are being the best you can be. Be confident in your ability to do your job better than you did it yesterday. We all have to start somewhere. The fact that you were hired for the job shows that you are what they were looking for. Even if you are only partially what they were looking for, the fact of the matter is that you were hired. This is your opportunity to be better than what they expected. Also make sure you're doing the job not only for the company but also for yourself. People are the most valuable assets to any organization so continue learning and growing. The more knowledgeable you are, the better.
