Your if statement needs to be moved inside the event listener. Also, the result of tagName needs to be capitalized; unless you want to use .toLowerCase() method.

  if (e.target.tagName == "INPUT")
  e.target.style.backgroundColor = 'rgb(255, 255, 0)';
});
