PHP

Something to think about....

ok so first I went and started with javascript it was ok I learned a little bit here on TTH , but php was what I originally wanted to go for and stick with . After a few lessons on javascript I said ok before I keep going let me try php and see what happens. I was hooked it was easy to understand so i decide to stick with php. Did some lessons here and there and decided to download Xampp . Well that wasnt fun at all struggled for almost a week with it ( apache worked fine , that wasnt the problem , problem was when i would go to localhost instead of it sending me to the Xampp page it would send me to the dashboard , not the place i was looking for couldn't do anything on it.) Anyways that was very frustrating with no answers or solution . Found out the xampp page isn't on the new update (if someone can help with that or know something please let me know) . Now i am on the lesson where he talks about the composer and I cant get it to install on my computer.

Php is easy to learn , but the setting up part is the worst thing ever , I am really thinking about going back to javascripta and wouldnt have to worry about all of the things I'm going through with php, dont want to as i do like php more. What do you guys think ?

In my experience it can be fairly difficult (and frustrating) to get certain things set up. I think you ought to keep trying to get these things sorted out--keep asking questions and keep experimenting--because it will most likely benefit you in the near future. PHP is really great for creating simple include files and, for example, for styling navigation links dynamically; the same thing can be accomplished using AngularJS but in my experience it's a lot more straightforward with PHP. This is not to say that you shouldn't pick JavaScript instead . . . but I really believe that if you've found aspects of PHP that you like, you should take advantage of that feeling and pursue it.

In the end, I can relate to your frustration. Keep trying to resolve the issue and it will pay off!

Hi John.

Well you could also try other AMP Stacks that are out there. MAMP, AMMPS,...

And try them out.

You can also install the whole AMP stack by yourself. A bit of compiling knowledge and systems knowledge will help.

But if you want I can help you in setting it all for with you. A small skype call or teamviewer can do great things :)

Let me know, because if you are passionate about PHP I'll help you get the tools you need to pursue your goals further.
