Spritekit low framerates

Hello, Today I finally tested my iOS(spritekit) game on a real iphone (not the iOS simulator) and I found the frame rates to be atrocious. The frame rate started at 60.0 fps when first entering the game scene but quickly fell to 5-15 fps in a matter of seconds. I have optimized my code as well as possible and still not improvement...Wondering if anyone else has experience with this issue. Any suggestions are welcome. Thanks for reading!
