SSL Certificate Issue

Just wanted to add this as a troubleshoot in case someone else faced it.

I received the following error when I tried installing sinatra via 'gem install sinatra'

ERROR: Could not find a valid gem 'sinatra' (>= 0), here is why: Unable to download data from https://rubygems.org/ - SSL_connect returned=1 errno=0 state=SSLv3 read server certificate B: certificate verify failed (https://api.rubygems.org/)

It turns out that I was using an older version of Ruby. Updating it and uninstalling the older version fixed the problem.
