As the lighten function, it takes tow parameters. The first one is the color and, the second is the percentage of the lighten for that color. with the saturation we do the same by passing the variable $complement with stored the color that is complement to the red and the we pass the percentage that we want our color to be saturated to which is 10% here.
Here is the code:
$complement: complement(red);

color: lighten(red, 5%);
background: desaturate($complement, 10%);
}
