since #name is used that means there is both internal and external name functions.

func search(#name: String) -> String?{ let names = ["Doc","Grumpy","Happy","Sleepy","Bashful","Sneezy","Dopey"] for n in names { if n == name

{ if let result = search(name: "Doc") {

        println("Found")

        }
    }
}

return nil

}

func search(#name: String) -> String? {
    let names = ["Doc","Grumpy","Happy","Sleepy","Bashful","Sneezy","Dopey"]
    for n in names {
        if n == name {
            return n
        }
    }
    return nil
}

if let result = search(name: "Doc") {
  println("Found")
}

Try that out.

thanks sorted, definitely not the best worded challenge though i was putting the if-let function inside the function thanks for you help on this one

Oh gotcha! Sorry I didn't notice that either. Yes I have noticed these challenges are VERY picky with iOS learning.
