You need to put a question mark before the ngModel because it is optional, you also don't need the comma and the 2 question marks after it. Your code should look like this:

angular.module('treehouseCourse', [])
  .directive('sometimesTwoWay', function() {
    return {
      // YOUR CODE HERE
      require: '?ngModel'
    }
  });
