stuck with python

Hi guys, i am currently just about to start tuples in python collections. i feel within myself i can do the basic things within python that you learn in basics and at the start of python collections. i am now at the stage where i am looking at the challenges that are presented to me and i have not got a bloody clue what to do or how to overcome the challenge. i look back through my notes that i take through every video, i rack my brains to see if i can come up with the solution myself using my own logic and its just getting me no where. i seem to have hit a brick wall.

i guess i am asking if anyone has any advice for me, is there anywhere else i can work through (other coding websites?) to help me learn and practice what i have learnt?.

just when i think i am getting to grips with something the next challenge just blows me out the water and i am finding my self googling the answers just to progress through the track, seeing if the answer to all my confusion shows its self in later videos.

any and all advice would be greatly appreciated.

many thanks Adam

I'd recommend Learn Python the Hard Way.

It takes a different approach than Treehouse, but it really forces you to slow down a bit and repeat things until you really get it.

Treehouse has to try and keep their videos as concise and to the point as possible, because most people learning won't have time to watch hours of videos at a time.

That being said, don't be afraid to watch the same videos again, even multiple times, and pause things while playing them, maybe code along with the teacher.

And lastly, if you have something specific you're not sure about, definitely ask the community here, and maybe even tag @kennethlove. We're all here to help!

Don't give up! Python is an excellent programming language to learn, with a wonderful community with a wealth of knowledge and experience to share.

Aup mate, thanks for the reply I actually have learn python the hard way, I arrived in the post last thursday I havnt tried it yet but I havw heard good things. I have also heard good thing about how to think like a computer scientist. I have the online verson of that also aswell as python programming for beginers vol 3. What I might do, going off what you said is work through those three over the next few months and then come back to treehouse. Hopefully things wont confuse me as much then.

That sounds like an excellent plan.

Also, I think you can 'pause' your Treehouse subscription if needed, so you can potentially save a bit of money while you're not actively using it for learning.

Otherwise you can always keep returning to videos you've watched to see how your understanding has increased

That sounds like a good idea that mate. I will look into pausing tonight. Come back to it in a month or so see how I am fairing

had a look at that before when you recommended it to warm up with, i find the questions way to cryptic. i am just struggling to make sense of it all. for some unknown reason.

thank you for the fast reply though
