What am I doing wrong? Thanks guys/gals!
# add_list([1, 2, 3]) should return 6
# summarize([1, 2, 3]) should return "The sum of [1, 2, 3] is 6."
# Note: both functions will only take *one* argument each
def add_list(list):
sum = 0
for items in list:
sum = sum + items
return(sum)
add_list([1, 2, 3])
def summarize(list):
return("The sum of" + list str(list) + "is" + add_list(list) + ".")

Treehouse Moderator 68,441 PointsWhen Task 1 stops working, it can mean a syntax error has crept in while working on later tasks that keeps all tasks from being tested.

Treehouse Moderator 68,441 PointsYou're very close. You have a syntax error in your return
statement. Additionally, you need to mind the spaces in the output:
def summarize(list):
# removed extra 'list', wrapped add_list() in str(), added spaces
return "The sum of " + str(list) + " is " + str(add_list(list)) + "."
