Swift 3 - Override

Can someone please help with this problem?

objects.swift
class Person {
  let firstName: String
  let lastName: String

  init(firstName: String, lastName: String) {
    self.firstName = firstName
    self.lastName = lastName
  }

  func fullName() -> String {
    return "\(firstName) \(lastName)"
  }
}

// Enter your code below
class Doctor : Person {
    override func getFullName() -> String {
        return "Dr. \(lastName)"
    }
}
let someDoctor = Doctor(firstName: "Sam", lastName: "Smith")
someDoctor.getFullName()

Hi, You can not override function which not exist in super class in the inherited class!

You can either rename the func in Doctor to fullName()

or

remove override from the Doctor class

  1. rename func example: class Person { let firstName: String let lastName: String

init(firstName: String, lastName: String) { self.firstName = firstName self.lastName = lastName }

func fullName() -> String { return "(firstName) (lastName)" } }

// Enter your code below class Doctor: Person { override func fullName() -> String { return "Dr. (lastName)" } }

let someDoctor = Doctor(firstName: "Sam", lastName: "Smith") print(someDoctor.fullName())

  1. remove override:

class Person { let firstName: String let lastName: String

init(firstName: String, lastName: String) { self.firstName = firstName self.lastName = lastName }

func fullName() -> String { return "(firstName) (lastName)" } }

// Enter your code below class Doctor: Person { func getFullName() -> String { return "Dr. (lastName)" } }

let someDoctor = Doctor(firstName: "Sam", lastName: "Smith") print(someDoctor.fullName()) print(someDoctor.getFullName())
