I want to get into app development and have not yet started to learn Objective-c. I figure i should just jump in and learn Swift for starters. The Swift guidebook seems to be directed towards proven programmers. What would be a good promgramming primer or prerequisites for someone new to programming?

Swift will not be matured for a few years to come. You will need a grounding in an existing language, like C, Objective-C, Python, or Java before jumping in with the (Swift) sharks

Are you talking about some languages to get you into the habit of coding? If so, you should check out Python, C++, Java. Those were the languages I practiced throughout high school, and got me into the coder mentality. Also, you should look for some courses on Game Theory, helps you to think logically like a coder. Hope I helped!

HI Kevin,

If you're new to programming then I would recommend you steer clear of Swift for now as it is still quite complex if you don't understand C, Objective-C, Python or any other language that's similar, I messed around with it last night and it took me a few hours to understand the new syntax structure even with 5 years of development experience behind me.
