"Our other iOS teacher Gabe, will focus on teaching the Objective-C language (yes, you need to know it, too) "
I'd like to know why it is recommended to still learn Objective-C and why new courses on this subject are being created here at treehouse?

There are a couple key reasons you should know Objective-C if you are planning to pursue a career as an iOS developer:
- Lots and lots of source code for plugins and frameworks you can integrate in your apps are written in Objective-C
- If you are contracting or working full-time for another organization on their apps, it's very likely they will have Objective-C source code, either partially or exclusively in their apps.
Some time in the far future, it will mostly likely be the case that Swift alone is enough, but that time is probably a long way off.
Hope this helps.
Best,
Greg
