Syntax for declaring and id variable (in Objective C)

Hi, I'm trying to pass an objective c track challenge. I'm supposed to declare an id variable and set it to nil. I've type id thing = @"nil"; and id *thing = @"nil"; but neither is right. Does anybody know the right syntax? I'd really appreciate it.

Well, you had it right the first time (kind of), but it's not asking you to set the variable to a string that reads nil, but rather the value nil itself. This should work:

id thing = nil;
