Hi Dominique!

It most certainly is! Atleast it was for me. I finished the Front End Web Development Techdegree which led to me landing a job as a Web Developer just weeks after finishing it. And I even had options when it came to which job offer I wanted to accept!

So to summarize, in my case the Techdegree helped me reach a position on the job market I could only have dreamed of before Treehouse. So yes, it's worth every dollar.

hi stjarnan, 1st of all thanks for this post, glad i read that. secondly can i ask whats ur opinion on the ""front end web dev" techdegree vs tracks? and if i finish doing "beginner javascript" course, do u think taking "front end web dev " is more safe to atleast get in the field 1st n then may b later on take "full stack javascript"? which looks more indepth, long and may b requires more knowledge to get full grasp of it!

Hi Saqib,

  • My opinion on Techdegree vs tracks is that they are both great ways to learn. The Techdegree projects and Slack channels are amazing and I loved how I didn't have to come up with the projects myself. The tracks are not really "inferior", you still get the same courses which could be seen as the biggest factor. You just need to be able to come up with your own projects, if you feel like if that's not a problem the tracks might very well be better for you :)

  • Both these tracks are great, I would recommend you to make the decision based on what seems like more fun. I think they are equally challenging in their own ways.

I hope that helps

Thanks stjarnan for ur answer n helping in the decision process :) defo taking the techdegree then... sorry one more thing if u can clarify abit more for me, abt the 2nd part of my question u suggested to take on whats seems fun to me, to be honest both looks fun to me right no . i m struggling to decide b/w these 2. what do u think is the trend in the market rite now? its the javascript for sure, m i correct? in that case does the "front end web dev" curriculum cover enough of javascript where we can deal with javascript projects comfortably at work? or taking "full stack javascript " course is more practical approach in regards to that... ? thanks for ur answer in advance

The front-end dev Techdegree definitely teach you enough JavaScript to feel comfortable using JavaScript at work. It really depends on your thirst to learn though. Personally I completed the front end Techdegree, and some of the projects really forced me to get comfortable using JavaScript. After completing the Techdegree I ended up with a job, was my skills good enough? Yes, they were more than good enough for a real work environment. But I still kept learning every day and today I work on both front and back-end depending on what's needed.

Going with one of the Techdegrees won't lock you out of the other paths. As I haven't done the full stack JavaScript Techdegree I can't really comment on where you'll stand afterwards.

I hope that helps :)

stjarnan, Really appreciate for the valuable advice to help makeup my mind towards what i m going to do. thanks to u once again

Dear stjarnan,

If you don't mind me asking, is the Techdegree something you could complete within a month? I feel like $199 would be enough of an incentive to finish ASAP. I heard that some people finish within the first month, but have to wait five months for the Techdegree because the projects need to be review by professionals.

I have a hard time believing it could be finished within a month considering the amount of content it consists of. The projects themselves can take you days of work just to make everything look and work in a good way. You wouldn't want to speed through the projects as they are what will get you employed in the end.

There is always people who complete things faster than others though and you might very well be one of them! :)
