textview1 option not available in intelisense

hello for some reason when i create my variable and i start typing: "R.id." textview1 does not come up in intellisense here is the section of code i am talking about: TextView answerlabel = findViewById(R.id.);

Check your (activity_main.xml) that defines your layout to see if you indeed have a TextView with the ID of (android:id="@+id/textView1")
