The extent of HTML learning

Please consider this instance,

  1. I go throw the following courses --HTML --Responsive images --HTML Video and Audio

To what extent have i learned all that is associated with HTML-- 5%? 10%? Am i drop in the ocean? I ask, because im considering moving on to Front-end web development, and am gauging if i have learned enough.

  1. I see that treehouse has a plethora of extra HTML-tagged courses, and to the courses within the "HTML" tag i pose the same question-- to what extent do they cover all that is associated with HTML? 15%?

Hi Elliot!

I would recommend, if you are looking to get into front-end development, then you follow a track instead of just doing individual pieces of content! This way, you will learn all of the skills needed through the courses specifically picked out by the awesome Treehouse teachers.

HTML on it's own is not enough. You also need to learn CSS. HTML and CSS go hand-in-hand and are the very basics of web development.

While your advice is sound, it does not answer the question I posed-- does the entirety of the HTML Videos offered from Treehouse cover the entirety of HTML?

If you were to click on the HTML tag and glance through the video offerings, would you conclude that they are covering 30%, 50%, 20%, of all HTML out there-- are you seeing all of the important topics there, and the less important topics discluded-- or would you provide a different analysis?

I ask, because i might want to search elsewhere to dive deeper into HTML before returning to master front-end web dev. track.

You don't need to know the entirety of HTML in order to get a job with it. The Treehouse courses will give you the experience you need!

HTML is one of those languages that you don't really need to dive deep into because once you know the basics you essentially know it all because all it is from there is searching element attributes and values.

understood.

I had the same worries as you and that lead me to dive deeper into some other sites HTML content. Primarily lynda.com (http://www.lynda.com/HTML-training-tutorials/224-0.html) and tutsplus.com (http://webdesign.tutsplus.com/categories/html/courses)

Specially Lynda has some massive HTML content, where HTML Essential Training is the king along with Bill Weinmans HTML content.

I had the same worries as you and to be honest, treehouse's HTML content is thin and the HTML teacher seem to be on a looong vacation :) just check content roadmap.. cry..

Good Luck mate.
