The Wonder of Typography

Lately, I have been interested in typography. I especially like how its subtle changes can have such a large impact on content. It can affect readability, emphasis, layout, etc... My first encounter with learning about typography came in the form of an online article in how much research went into the font Segoe. Segoe was partially developed so that the type can be read clearly even when there is movement (such as video) going on behind it like on a smartphone. In the article, the comparison is made between Microsoft's font choice and that of Apple and Google. Below is a link to the article if your are curious to know more (it is a two part series) -

Also, here is a link to a pretty awesome animated short film on the history of typography that I saw on the Opera browser facebook page for your voluntary edification -

Enjoy! : )

Ryne Smith Typography is core to great design. If you take care to get your typography right (baseline, line height, font ratios and hierarchy), your designs will be in great shape.
