This Code is not covered in the previous Videos and was asked in the code challenge, I am not able to figure it out.

In this challenge, you're going to select various elements from index.html. First, select all links inside the <nav> element and assign them to the variable navigation links. (HINT: Use a descendant selector to match elements that are descendants of an element.)

Kindly help.

I tried to refer to MDN but not able to get it solved.

js/app.js
let navigationLinks = document.querySelectorAll(':nav .ul .li');
let galleryLinks;
let footerImages;
index.html

The simple solution is let navigationLinks = document.querySelectorAll('nav a');

Here's some hints regarding issues with the selector argument: (':nav .ul .li'):

  • a descendant selector generally only needs to specify the outer container and the actual target
  • since "nav" is a tag name, it doesn't need any punctuation prefix
  • links are implemented using anchor ("a") elements
  • "a" is also a tag name, so it will not need a prefix either
  • for future reference: a colon (":") prefix is for a pseudo element, and a period (".") is for a class name

Keep in mind that the task is to "select all links inside the <nav> element".

Those are pretty explicit hints. If you apply them, I guarantee you'll pass the first task. :wink:
