This course needs a workspace

There are too many concepts being thrown out here without any hands-on practice. I am just sitting here taking notes and rewinding several times and it is not sinking in nearly as well as the other videos that allow me to work along with the instructor.

Agreed. even with the mod workaround...im finding myself pausing multiple times and finding irregularities in my setup compared to Guil's

I understand the frustration, this class was filmed and processed prior to workspaces. What you can do is download a copy of sublime text. and use that as the text editor for the videos that don't have workspaces and for your own projects. take a look at the link below:

http://www.sublimetext.com/

oh and its free.

any time, also look up sublime text packages. Some great plugins.

Jonathan, I definitely agree with you it appears that the Guil races through the material and provides very little explanation of what he is doing. It's a lot of do this, now do this, now do this, do this,..................He goes through everything so fast it's very difficult to keep up. I opened a blank workspace to follow along and I still feel that I'm getting next to nothing out of this course. In my opinion, I think the entire course should be redone. Knowing how to properly apply CSS layout techniques is incredibly important to designing a webpage. One of the most important. Jacob, I don't think students should have to do extra work because Treehouse's failure to deliver a satisfactory course. That's not what we're paying for. To be brutally honest, I think the quality is bad enough to turn students away from Treehouse. The structure of each course should be consistent in that they all provide a workspace and the content is introduced in a way that's easy to grasp and follow along. All of the courses I've taken have been satisfactory up until this point. I'm very disappointed by this course and might skip over it entirely.

Theodore,

Like I said in my earlier statement, the course was created prior to workspaces, and yes I agree, if you are working front end web development CSS layouts are extremely important. that is why Treehouse has created a new updated layout course:

http://teamtreehouse.com/library/css-layout-basics/upcoming

I'm sure with this updated class, will include updated techniques and a proper workspaces.

Even though I don't work for Treehouse or anything I understand your frustration, in dealing with older videos. It looks like Treehouse understands this and is re-making some important courses.

Thank you, Jacob. I appreciate your response and I'm very happy to hear that they're revising the css layout techniques course. I'm looking forward to an improved learning experience.
