- By empirical methods, the browser can be identified as Google Chrome for OS X (Mac) without question.
- This video was uploaded to the Team Treehouse iTunes feed on 7 April 2014.
- According to the Google Chrome release history page on Wikipedia, Chrome 34.0.1847 for OS X was released one day after on 8 April 2014, so it's certainly version 33.0.1750 or lower.
Assumptions
1. Video Production Time
I conjecture that the Treehouse team has a fairly rapid production process, meaning 6 months after filming this video must have been released (probably much earlier). The 6 month figure comes from a course on Business Dev taught by Ryan Carson that I watched about 4-5 years ago, where he mentioned that originally Think Vitamin Membership was launched in less than 6 months, and if your startup plan takes longer than 6 months to launch you should reevaluate. I can't imagine the current team taking any longer to release a video.
2. Chrome Updates
It can stand to reason that Andrew Chalkley and/or the team who set up the laptop kept it up-to-date with the latest software, and therefore version of Chrome, available at the time of filming.
3. Chrome Release History Wiki
It is highly unlikely that anyone would sabotage the Google Chrome release history page on Wikipedia with false data, however the circumstance must be considered.
Conclusion
With these points in mind, the exact version of Chrome for OS X used in the video must be between 30.0.1599 (2013-10-01) and 33.0.1750 (2014-02-20).
If the author is a gambling man (which he does not consciously think of himself as being), he would place his bet on Chrome 32.0.1700.
