JavaScript Introduction to jQuery Hello, jQuery! Accessing and Modifying Attributes

This whole section is very confusing.

Both JQuery courses are very confusing. They seem rushed at the start and don't properly explain the very basics. After watching this first section, I don't feel confident in the rest of this course. So many things were just skipped over.

What does .on mean? We can put JQuery in a console.log? The 'not' method was talked about too briefly. Every part of the code example should be examined individually so we know exactly what it means.

Very disappointed so far.

Jeezzz.... I just started a discussino on the same thing. The teacher isn't even typing. She's copying and pasting code.

I've watched the video 3 times and it's still hard to follow.

Very sad.

Thanks goodness I'm not the only one... It seems too rushed and doesn't really make sense to have it here.

If I were you, I'd just skip straight to pure Javascript courses anyways. jQuery isn't that popular anymore, since Javascript is faster, and new alternatives are much better at doing what jQuery does (React.js, Vue.js). Still a pity you don't like the course though.

Agreed I found Guil & Dave to be the best teachers among the ones I have seen so far. They take time to explain each parts meticulously. You can follow along and write the code just by listening to them. Here all the codes are being copy pasted and not explained in detail.

I would suggest everyone to go through this list to have a very basic understanding of syntax in jquery: https://learnxinyminutes.com/docs/jquery/

Thanks Devjyoti! That's a great resource :)

3 months later and TreeHouse has done nothing about the video.

I'm enjoying the pace of the course so far, and I think it's because I've completed the front end web development track already and at this point we are expected to be able to jump between the course and the docs as well as googling any small issues we have.

So my advice is brush up on some vanilla javascript and CSS selectors then come back to jQuery.

Good luck!

I agree- this is so rushed. I thought I had accidentally skipped an entire section or something.

This course is a really a mess

it's been a year and yet still the same mess! Good job treehouse money well spent...........................

I am glad I am not the only one. The feel of this course (the format, pace, references, etc) is entirely different than the others I've done. I aced the questions but feel like I've learned almost nothing. It doesn't feel like anything is being explained or laid out in a clear way. I know it is challenging to teach technical material, especially if you don't know the skill level of your audience. In my own line of work I am tasked with teaching technical and legal process to other employees. Perhaps this course is too advanced for me, but it definitely doesn't fit in the track I've encountered it in.
