Tips to keep on track with learning programming and change career even with full-time job!

Hi guys —

I work full-time and sometimes after work I'm so tired and I feel so guilty for not developing my skills. I also sometimes feel overwhelmed by all the challenges that come with learning new skills, though it's really awesome when you learn new stuff and overcome bugs.

What tips, tricks and life hacks have worked with you to improve your skills even when having a full-time job?

Thanks!

I don't have an answer for this but I second the question. Having a full time job and kids seems to constantly absorb all of my time and effort. I can get a few hours it feels like here and there but never anything consistent enough to count. Any advice is more than welcome! I'm with ya Mil!

It may not work for everybody, but I try to slip in a video or a few around everything else that's going on; so maybe one or two before work, or exercising, while making dinner/lunch, etc. Sometimes it means watching them more than once to fully get everything, but it works for me! :)

I try and do a half an hour a day at least. And when I do have more time I'll go for an hour or so. Persistence is key. :)

I just started here and I try to do at least half an hour a day. Yesterday for example I used my lunch-break at work to do a couple of sections on the web dev track. And when I am in the train, I sometimes try to do a course without coding (design or business).

And when the kid is in bed and my wife still has work to do, I get my laptop and sit at the same table with her and go to treehouse.

Sometimes it is hard to find the time, but even on busy days I manage to squeeze in at least half an hour at the moment.
