To write an alert, would I need to write another separate script tag?

I'm having trouble completing 2/2, when I write an alert function it describes the prior task 1./2 as no longer working.

any one have this issue?

index.html
<!DOCTYPE HTML>
<html>
<head>
  <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=UTF-8">
  <title>JavaScript Basics</title>
</head>
<body>
  <script src = "scripts. js ">

  </script>

  </script>
  <script src = "scripts . js">

    Alert ("Warning");
  </script>

  <script>

</body>
</html>

Looks like you have a good bit of unnecessary code, there. All you need to do is put the alert between an opening and closing script tag, placed inside the body. Linking files is not necessary for this challenge. Like so:

<body>
  <script>
    alert('Warning!');
  </script>
</body>

The problem is actually that you added an src attribute to the script tag which means it's linking to an external .js file instead of inserting JavaScript into the .html file. Remove the src from the script tag which holds your alert() and it should work.
