Totally confuse what the question is. I'm trying to make an array for each key in the $contact array. I get the error message: Bummer! I do not see the required output. You should not be modifying the output at this point. Not sure what that means either.

My fault for not understanding can someone point out what i'm doing wrong?

My Code: $contacts[0] = array ( name => 'Alena Holligan', );

$contacts[1] = array ( name => 'Dave McFarland', );

$contacts[2] = array ( name => 'Treasure Porth', );

$contacts[3] = array ( name => 'Andrew Chalkley', );

index.php
<?php
//edit this array
$contacts = array('Alena Holligan', 'Dave McFarland', 'Treasure Porth', 'Andrew Chalkley');

$contacts[0] = array (
  name => 'Alena Holligan',
);

$contacts[1] = array (
  name => 'Dave McFarland',
);

$contacts[2] = array (
  name => 'Treasure Porth',
);

$contacts[3] = array (
  name => 'Andrew Chalkley',
);

echo "<ul>\n";
//$contacts[0] will return 'Alena Holligan' in our simple array of names.
echo "<li>Alena Holligan : alena.holligan@teamtreehouse.com</li>\n";
echo "<li>Dave McFarland : dave.mcfarland@teamtreehouse.com</li>\n";
echo "<li>Treasure Porth : treasure.porth@teamtreehouse.com</li>\n";
echo "<li>Andrew Chalkley : andrew.chalkley@teamtreehouse.com</li>\n";
echo "</ul>\n";

Hi Nick,

Your code would have passed if you put quotes around all the "name" keys but pascal shows a more streamlined way to do it.

Hi Nick Zachary,

More information about array`s can be found in (http://php.net/manual/en/function.array.php).

What this task asks is to make each person as an array As seen in the example they now have there own array. Hope this helps you

<?php
//edit this array
$contacts = array(
  array('name' => 'Alena Holligan'),
  array('name' => 'Dave McFarland'),
  array('name' => 'Treasure Porth'),
  array('name' => 'Andrew Chalkley')
);
