Treehouse USER INTERFACE COLOR PROBLEM. :( color blindness %

When im doing code challange I CAN NOT SEE red text on dark background.

Im daltonic ( color blind ). Not so bad level of color blindness but enough not to differinsiate vibrant text from dark background.

Would it be possible to change red text in code challange editor to little less vibrant red.

(ohtervise i have to touch every word with my nose, get really annoying if there are lot of red. )

P.S I have used SyleBot Crome extension to deal with it.. But a change would be nice.

Have you contacted Support about it? It must be really frustrating to try and do the code challenges. Hope there is a good, easy solution for you.

Hi Kristjan,

I've sent an email to Treehouse support informing them of your issue.

:)

tnx! It would be nice to see code :D Desktop monitors seems to display too much colors, thus it gets too vibrant and I feel blind as a bat :D

So i change the angels and distance from monitor like a fly on glass trying to get somewhere :D

But it is quite fun too see the code as riddle with blank spaces :D (they say harder in the bootcamp easyer in war :D )

LOL,

I have a similar problem when watching the tutorials that have a black background in the code editor, and it's really annoying when they fade the screen when trying to highlight a certain piece of text.

Plot twist: They have 2 videos dedicated to talking about making sure your website looks good for color blind people.

Thanks for your feedback on this! We're really sorry for any trouble it's caused you Kristjan! I've reached out to our designers and shared this post with them.

Howdy Kristjan Reinsberg! I am one of the designers here at Treehouse. I am curious to know if there is a specific hue of red that will work? If you can provide me with a hex code, I can help get this fixed for ya!

Me and some of my colorblind friends tested some hex colors. We all shared same 2 problems with current color:

  1. This red is too vibrant for this background (hard to see letter borders, letter is like vibrateing)
  2. It too dark. (to differensiate from background)

We tried dark pinks. - did not work so well. (riski choice since color blindness is %)

So we tested smilar colors. The best solution was ligher pink

This was our favorite. (Safest and similar)

Thanks for your trouble!

Thanks Kristjan Reinsberg! I will get this updated shortly.
