Two (2) programming languages at the same time

Hi,

Is it okay for me to learn Ruby on Rails like in the morning and iOS at night?

I don't see any reason it's not ok, but it will likely take you longer to learn both languages together than it would separately. Learning a programming language I mostly about practice and repetition. The more frequently and longer you practices at it the better you get, but it's not really additive learning. By that I mean that 30 minute every day for 4 weeks (14 hours) is not the same as 2 hours a day for 7 days ( although this might cause mental burnout). This is because it takes the mind time to build connections/memories and then additional time to solidify those connections into longer term memories ( i.e. thing we learned). So if you have to repeat a task 10-15 times before your mind starts making connections, you might need to repeat the task another 30 or 40 times before it sticks. However, if you are switching between tasks, say 10 times and then switching, you aren't giving your mind enough time to build up connections.

I think as long as it works for you, it is okay. Though learning languages that look very similar to each other might be a bit confusing but as long as you can distinguish the difference, do it if it works for you.

This is really a personal thing more than anything. You will need to decide if you can cope with learning two languages at the same time.

okay i understand, i know what you mean now. Ill gonna see how things will go and try it for a week . Most of the time i spend around 4h learning but i decided to get up in the morning and code one hour before college starts and then at night other language as I'm very interested in making iOS apps and Websites .
