Okay, so lets say I land a programming job, remote or on-site my question is, do most of these companies allow for unpaid time off? How lenient are they? Cause I typically take anywhere between 2-4 one week vacations throughout the year cause I like to travel and see family, and I typically do it for about a week minimum cause if not, then its not worth my time or money. So my question do most of these companies allow around 2-4 Weeks out of 54 weeks of the year for me to take off to travel and vacation so that you know I don't die because of work? I like to somewhat have a life. Am I asking for too much? Like how does it work? Am I only allowed to take time off if I have the PTO?

8,016 PointsHi Nick, not an easy question because it depends on geolocation of your company (country).
Here in Belgium, we've got 20 paid holidays that you can take a year, if you work 5 years for the same company you've get 1 day extra. And we are allowed to add 10 days unpaid vacation.
A colleague of mine recently worked a year in Toronto (front-end dev in a startup-environment) and he told me that the work/life balance was really crazy. People didn't need to work a full day (+-8hours), everybody managed their own hours. They just needed to complete certain tasks by a strict deadline, how they did it and when was not a question. Some people even lived at the company took their dogs with them, went for a jogging during the day etc...
Normally your vacation and how you need to work (regime) is explained at the second job-interview, after that we do a contract proposition and then you can choose if you want to work with us or not.
