Use of "this" as identifier

In your video, when you use "this" as the identifier, how does the program know you are referring to the "button" and not the "spoiler span" which occurs just previous to the "this"?

:point_right: In an event handler, "this" refers to the element that caused the event.

Since the handler was attached to a button, you know that "this" must refer to the button that was clicked. It will be consistent throughout the function and is not influenced by other code lines.

I see, thanks for that.
