Python Python Basics (2015) Python Data Types list.remove()

using .remove() in the challenge task

The challenge task asks to use .remove() to remove the last value within the variable 'states' which is 5.

when I do states.remove(5) an error comes up telling me not to change 'states' directly so what can I do instead?

lists.py
states = [
    'ACTIVE',
    ['red', 'green', 'blue'],
    'CANCELLED',
    'FINISHED',
    5]
states.remove(5)

I just finished the problem with your solution. You’re correct it’s:

states.remove(5)

Edit: Okay, after some investigating... I think you’re getting the error because there’s a comma after the 5 in the challenge. So I’d refresh the problem then retry your solution.
