86 PointsVersion of Rails and compatibility
My son and I are going through this series to see if it would be a good fit for him in learning how to code website applications. Upon reaching the generation of scaffolding code for the treebook status, we receive an error when attempting to access the URL (http://127.0.0.1:3000/statuses/).
Are there any compatibility issues between this video and the latest version of Rails? I noticed that this video is quite old. It appears that perhaps you are using Rails v2 or v3 in this video, while the latest available that we have downloaded is v4.
Any insight our help would be greatly appreciated.
Best Regards, Dave Cenker

36,441 PointsIf you're doing the Treebook app, you need to switch to Rails 3.2 (either through dedicated virtual machine from Treehouse, or manually). Although this particular error does not seem to be related to the differences between Rails 3 and 4. Instead of 127.0.0.1 use
http://localhost:3000/statuses
and see if this works (and make sure you started the rails server successfully).

16,488 PointsYeah, rails and ruby have been updated. http://rubyonrails.org for the latest version number https://www.ruby-lang.org/en/ for the version number as well. You can also type ruby -v in the console to get your current version, there will be some compatibility issues with the version in the tutorial. Hope this helps, and it is great that you are getting your son involved in learning to code!
Happy Coding!
