vertical and horizontal

with flexbox horizontal and verticals has the teacher got these the wrong way round because when he mentions one or the other the opposite is viewed?

jasonj7 the default flex direction is row(horizontal) so when he removes the setting everything is lined up horizontally right next to each otther. When the direction is set to column the elements are stacked vertically
