W3C validator erros.

Hi,

I was wondering what this error: "Stray end tag a" means. I checked got this message when I checked out a website using the W3C validator.

Also I have been checking a lot of websites and majority of them give errors when I check them, even www.webbyawards.com and also www.teamtreehouse.com What does this mean? that most coders are making mistakes?

Hesam Alavi, the validator found 57 errors. 22 of them are because of the Ҁ™ character. The others can be seen at the Validation Service. You can find error explanations here.

Other errors were things like missing headings and so forth. As for Treehouse not validating, the validator does not accept all code languages. Also, not every coder puts priority on making sure code is validated, but that it's compatible with most configurations.

Hope that helps a bit. Sorry for the delay at getting back with you.

P.S. For a code editor, make sure you're using Sublime Text or the like. You don't want to use something with formatting, e.g., Microsoft Word or TextEdit.

Hello, if you could post your code we can take a look for you. Otherwise, HTML5 has different requirements, then say, XHTML. Also, if you are running PHP code through a validator, that could cause issues as well.

Most popular websites put higher importance on browser support than making sure code is validated.

P.S. The topic has been changed to HTML for relevancy.
