PHP

W3schools PHP

I've heard bad things about W3schools before, like "W3fools" etc and just wondering if anyone uses it as supplemental material for PHP information? I've been reading it, but don't really want to use it if it's not regarded as good in the industry.

I normally use php.net as a reference for PHP stuff. Yeah W3Schools is looked down upon. Apparently this gives a few reasons why they are bad. (slow to update content, no way to provide corrections, etc).

w3schools isn't really the place to learn php, it is more like a reference guide but for more in depth information I would suggest you to use php.net

I've avoided it ever since finding w3fools. I still see it linked to in these forums and it seems to be unstoppable. It comes up higher in the search results than the w3c which just seems wrong to me.

Whatever information w3schools has on PHP it's highly unlikely that you will be better informed getting the information there rather than the php docs as well as the comments left by experienced developers on those doc pages.

One place to start is Techtopia.

In particular there PHP Essentials ebook.
