WC3 Markup Validation Error

I am getting an error when I test my index.html file. I went through the whole file and it's really not any different than Nick's file in the video. The error I get is: Error Line 7, Column 142: Bad value http://fonts.googleapis.com/css?family=Changa+One|Open+Sans:400italic,700italic,400,700,800 for attribute href on element link: Illegal character in query: not a URL code point.

Could you please help?

Thanks Suzanne

Hi Suzanne,

The validator is giving you an error about the vertical bar | This is considered an unsafe character and should be url encoded.

Replace the vertical bar with %7C and that should get rid of the error. I think that the validator must have been updated to catch this since the time Nick recorded the video and so it doesn't show up for him.

Suzanne, here's also a guide on unsafe characters in URLs if you're interested in what's safe and what should be encoded.
