We want to add an exception for <a> tags that are are in the <div> with a class of .footer: those links should be purple

What am I doing wrong here?!

p {
  a {
    Color: red;
    .footer & {
      color: purple;
    }
   }
    > a {
     color: blue;
    &:hover {
      opacity: 0.5;
    }
  }
}

The question say the div with a class of footer so is it not the following. Can't see a link to the quiz to test but this should work

p {
  a {
    Color: red;
    div.footer & {
      color: purple;
    }
   }
    > a {
     color: blue;
    &:hover {
      opacity: 0.5;
    }
  }
}

My apologies, here is the link to the quiz. http://teamtreehouse.com/library/advanced-nesting

My answer above works I just tried it out for you. All you missed was the div selector before the .footer. To select only the div with that class

WOW!! That was it. I can't believe it was that simple. lol
